I'm not sure what the album rate for inflation would be, but I'd guess that The Fame / The Fame Monster would have sold about as much as Britney's biggest albums if it was released in that climate. And Adele's sales would just be massive.

Probably not, but I don't know if that's a bad thing. Look what it did to her. I think there are more pop girls now who are successful at one time, so it's harder for one to be as big with so much competition. I think it's better this way too. Someone new might come onto the scene and be huge for a bit but it will probably be short lived.

No one will ever match Britney's success or her peak. I believe in the increasingly social media-reliant world that we live in, no artists will ever become that major. Instead, we'll see an increase in B-list stars with smaller but more dedicated fanbases as opposed to larger stars with the GP as their casual fanbase.

I kinda wish. It's nice to see someone rise to such heights and admire their success. No doubt Gaga came close but she burned out much too quick.

However we live in a different time. The age of massive pop stars and heavy emphasis on pop culture is gone. Britney, Christina and Beyonce are the last of that era.

I agree. The 2000s was the last decade where it was possible to get a complete domination of the pop world like that. I don't think it'd be possible to happen today.

It happens with particular songs like Gangnam Style, Call Me Maybe, Blurred Lines, etc. but it doesn't happen with actual artists anymore, their domination only lasts a few months.
