I agree. The 2000s was the last decade where it was possible to get a complete domination of the pop world like that. I don't think it'd be possible to happen today.
It happens with particular songs like Gangnam Style, Call Me Maybe, Blurred Lines, etc. but it doesn't happen with actual artists anymore, their domination only lasts a few months.
