But sexual preference is a different thing. One person may just not find black skin and specific facial features attractive and that's all. There isn't any big deal about it. Life goes on!

I think that's true. But the argument is that (part of) the reason they aren't attracted to black features is because they've been socially ingrained through media and the rest of society that blacks are somehow inferior or "bad."
So I agree that it sometimes is a preference, but we should pay attention to why the preference exists: Pure desire or something deeper?

All black people don't even have the same feature so that doesn't even make sense. lol
I'm not even included admixed blacks.
Like pure black Africans literally do not have the same exact features.
So how can features be a factor?

Not ugly. Beauty is subjective. There are white people who don't like whichever minority and there are people from the minorities who don't like white people. There was a thread in here a few weeks ago about a dating site for black people only. Isn't this about the same situation? Aren't those black people being racist, according to y'alls logic?
|
Those sites are used by blacks in populations where they are the minority. Just because they are on Blackpeoplemeet.com doesn't mean it is the only dating site they are on. Maybe the mainstream sites don't offer variety. Every thought about that?
Similarly blackpeoplemeet is not like whitepeoplemeet, it's more like and Irish/Italian/Spanishpeoplemeet. It's a nationality thing. Not a race thing.

I'm considered light-skinned, I'm in a lot of AP classes and stuff, and I'm pretty articulate.
I want to say more than half of the people I meet ask me about my race. They wanna know if I'm Puerto Rican, half-mexican, half-white, Filipino, Brazilian, etc.
And when I tell them I'm black, they go "Woah. I still can't look at you as a black person. You're just too different from them."

A sexual preference is male or female or both. The people who say no blacks is a preference just sound stupid and ignorant. Like come on now! It doesn't exist. Accept the fact that you're shallow and possibly a racist.

can't believe that a STUDY needed to be done to prove this...it was already obvious that saying "no blacks/no asian/no anyone who's not white" is racist. smh

What would be the point of them creating separate sites and accounts on them though? I live in a 99% white country and I see foreigners of different ethnicity on Tinder everyday. I bet it's a real mixture in America, where black people make up more than 10% of the population.

Are you trying to tell me that being black is a nationality and being white is a race?

OMG I'm the same way!!!
There are still some people who don't think I'm fully black. I don't like being approached like that.

It's true. And as another post said, most "no blacks" people will make an exception if the person is light-skinned enough.
No blacks is just an umbrella statement that goes beyond just physical appearance. It's associated with other aspects of "blackness"
But these whites are the same ones that will adopt black gay or black women lingo and culture freely.
White people only want to be black when it suits them.

And there are some who go as far as to say "No Mixed Race either, only pure white."
Mess at "pure" when a lot of whites are a mixture of Italian, German, French, Anglo, Irish, etc... Nothing "pure" about it.
===
In my opinion, I would just stay off of grindr. I feel like it can't be taken seriously as nobody wants an actual meaningful relationship on there, but rather cheap ****ty hook-ups.
So I just can't waste my time on ugly ass people who say ignorant stuff. I'd rather just wait it out or die alone tbh.

Mess

Like, something in your line of thinking has caused you to view _____ as undesirable and inferior, and you expect that your mind is only limiting that to just sexual preference?
That bias, "preference", prejudice definitely seeps over into other aspects of life. The problem is the lack of awareness and willingness to admit it.
A mess.

It's rude to do it tbh. But apart from that, it's not a big deal. Saw I "no whites" under a profile, I would literally not give a ****. I'd be like "Oh, whatever". People are different and so are their tastes. Just accept the fact that other people are entitled to theirs.

That all depends on where you live in America. Some areas are completely white not to mention completely racist.

In America Black and African American are used interchangeably. African American is just as much as a nationality as Irish American or Italian American. Blackpeoplemeet doesn't really exist in say Ghana or Nigeria, because only Black Americans share the same heritage/nationality (which began with slavery).

Tinder finds people in a radius of 160km. That disqualifies the vast majority of your argument. Unless one lives under a rock in Idaho, but that's a marginal amount of people.

Africa is not a country though. Besides, it's race-based as all African Americans are black. I bet my ass that white migrants from South Africa are excluded from that group.

I live in America (in Florida, not in the middle Wyoming or something), and I can tell you this is not true. It's mostly white on these dating apps. Not saying it's like that everywhere, but everywhere in America is not extremely diverse.

Well you live in Poland where almost everyone is white. Seeing one or two people say "no whites" probably wouldn't matter, but when you see it constantly in a place where you are a minority it's different.

This. There are actually a lot of black people in America that have no clue where they come from in Africa. For some it's impossible to find out.

It's really not the same thing. There are evolutionary advantages to seeking tall and strong men. First and foremost, what we find attractive is mostly what we want to potentially see in our offspring, this applies to gays too. Women tend to seek strong tall men for protection and security and want their offspring to strong too. Men are geared towards hourglass figures because it is that certain type of bust-waist-hip ratio that makes it easier to bear children. Sexual attraction is a lot about genetics, early balding clearly isn't a positive genetic trait.
But when it comes to race, are there any natural connotations, positive or negative? Well I'd say the dark skin implies health and melanin proficiency,( and is less cancer prone). In nature pale skin is associated with illness and death. But yet the perception and preference in the dating world has it entirely backwards. That's because they have been conditioned by racist notions of racial superiority and inferiority by society. If you are affected you are at least subconsciously racist.
