We don't really see it in the media and entertainment because they usually have to have one white party to ensure that white audiences can relate and will be interested. For instance, if a movie has a black male lead like Will Smith (and it's not an ensemble cast with other white male leads), they pretty much always make the love interest white otherwise it will be seen as "black" movie which will they feel will turn off white audiences. That's one example, but that's how it generally plays out with any race and why things in media/entertainment get white-washed.

I do feel as though certain races, black for instance, frown heavily upon dating outside your race.

You can't win with many blacks...they won't date you because you aren't black enough and if you date outside of your race other blacks frown upon you.
