I love Charli but this is really ridiculous. Especially since the studio versions sound worse than the live rips from YouTube. I want True Romance Charli back with her huge Frankenstein shoes.
Sucker is the much-needed kick up the arse pop music needs. While Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran strum along chirruping to the same instrumentals, Charli XCX refuses to conform to the norm of pop, nodding at The Jam for London Queen, and citing HAIM with Doing It, coupled with the constant reminder that she simply doesn’t care, it really is a breath of fresh air to have someone bring a bit of character, fire and integrity, to a frankly bleak genre.
This is a 4.5/5 but I don't think it counts for MC unfortunately. x
It's an incredible album. Cohesive & fun, catchy, great to drive to. There's so much to love about it.
And honestly, it reminds me of how Lady Gaga's The Fame made me feel when I listened to it.
Also, I was a HUGE fan of True Romance. The albums are completely different, but I love them both in different ways.
I was thinking that Sucker and The Fame are similar albums in some ways. Both have a distinct sound (The Fame with dance-pop, Sucker with punk-pop) and both album's main themes are money, fame and love.
