It's gonna stay that way too, cuz "Snow" is gaining much more than "Hurt" at this point.
uhh, Koda Kumi...she is just as bad, but her popularity has fallen significantly in a matter of months. She is already selling under 500K for an album, which is sad, cuz she just went platinum with another album back in December. It's taken her three months to fall from grace...must be a record. People are FINALLY tired of her.

^snow will be off the chart in a couple of weeks at most
ok, so koda just fell from grace like that? any reason for that?....is 983.000 the highest debut ever in japan, or has anyone sold more?...that boyband maybe?...forgot their name
EDIT: kat-tun!

I'm not sure. She was really much like a gimmick and I believe people have begun to become bored of her. Her newest album, abeit another Greatest Hits, hasn't sold more than 500,000 copies and Greatest Hits albums sell the most in Japan (they sell nothing here in the states). Weird, cuz her sales seemed to have died within a 3 month period. Even her new single barely surpassed 100,000 copies sold, when she usually gets 250,000 easily. I believe her excessive releases have finally killed her (check her release dates and you'll see).

At this point, it's definately Utada Hikaru/Ayumi Hamasaki/Namie Amuro (starting to gain a little) with the longetivity. If BoA can survive for a couple more years, she'll be added to the list, as she's been around for about 5/6 years now.

Not necessarily. In most cases, I don't like them at all. However, they're fanbases are quite specific, like girls between 15-25 for instance. Although, these girls are very persistent and loyal and will ALWAYS buy their albums. Someone like Utada Hikaru or Ken Hirai with a broader fanbase sells about the same sometimes, as different people buy their albums each time.

actually Mika's Grace Kelly will pass both of them so it looks like Chasing Cars will stay @ 11. and Hurt will go to number 12 next week. Mika has had an amazing run. almost went to number 1 but it flopped in the US

Is this updated each week, like weekly, or does it show totals for an entire year?
