What album released in the decade prior to 4 sounds like it? Beyoncé, as the star that she is and reeling off the heels of IASF, completely changed her direction and went for a much more R&B, down tempo approach when radio was just starting to accept EDM and was still very much rooted in fluff-fodder pop music. It's daring in the sense that Beyoncé could have just done another album of generic pop music, but she didn't. She did something she wanted to do.
