Right about... now.
#30: Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)
Average: 6.61538 - Highest: 10 (And Now I Wonder), Lowest: 2 (Ace Reject)
Peak Position: #28 Hot 100 (Double A-side with "Crybaby"), #6 U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play
Released: June 6, 2000
Album: Rainbow
"Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme", as mentioned in a previous post, was released as a double A-side with "Crybaby" in the summer of 2000. This song was the center of a public feud between Mariah and her then-label, Columbia. She wanted to release this song as the third single from her seventh album, Rainbow. However, her record executives wanted a more upbeat and urban single. After a public controversy, Columbia agreed to release "Can't Take That Away" and "Crybaby" as a double A-side. However, it was somewhat of a double-edged sword, because the two songs received a limited and low-promotion release. As a result, the song only charted in three countries: outside the top 40 in Belgium and the Netherlands, but at #4 in Canada. This, and other conflicts with Sony/Columbia, was the reason why Mariah left the label in 2001. The song's first music video shows Mariah watching a few clips about self-confidence and overcoming troubles, and then going to stand on a balcony as a rainbow appears outside. It was quickly pulled because of a few technical bugs. The second video fixed these; the clips Mariah watches remain the same, but the interior shots of her were re-filmed.

#29: Boy (I Need You)
Average: 6.84615 - Highest: 10 (And Now I Wonder, jinzo, SO.UNCOOL™, AndTheWinnerIs...), Lowest: 2 (Flashing Lights)
Peak Position: Did not chart on Hot 100, #57 US Billboard Hot Singles Sales
Released: November 26, 2002
Album: Charmbracelet
"Boy (I Need You)" was released as the second single from Charmbracelet, Mariah's ninth album and first from her current record label, Island. The song is an answer song to Cam'ron's "Oh Boy" which had been released earlier in 2002. Cam'ron is also the featured artist on the track. This song's performance in the US was similar to its precedent "Through the Rain" - it completely and utterly flopped. It also charted weakly internationally; the highest it peaked on a national chart was at #17 in the UK. "Boy"'s music video was somewhat of a tribute to modern Japanese culture. It is set in a futuristic city, and contains everything Japanese from Godzilla to Speed Racer to anime.

#28: I'm Glad
Average: 6.846154 - Highest: 10 (SO.UNCOOL™, Green), Lowest: 1 (AndTheWinnerIs...)
Peak Position: #32 Hot 100
Released: August 7, 2003
Album: This Is Me... Then
This song was released as the third single from This Is Me... Then, in the late summer of 2003, which was nearly 7 months after the last single "All I Have" (which is included later in this rate). Although it was only moderately successful on the US national chart, it was a hit in the UK, Canada, and across several European countries. Its remixes were also club hits in the US, which propelled the song to #4 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. "I'm Glad"'s music video recreated scenes and used adapted choreography from the 1983 movie Flashdance. The movie itself is about a woman who is a construction worker by day and an exotic dancer by night. J. Lo wore an outfit similar to the one the main character wears in the movie. Due to all of this, Maureen Marder (whose life inspired the movie's plot) sued Lopez for copyright infringement in November 2003. The case was dismissed in 2006.

"Boy" is probably my least favorite Mariah song ever, in addition to being one of the most annoying songs ever.
And I secretly love "I'm Glad" it should be a little higher.

NOOOOO "I'm Glad" too low
Though I will say the video is far superior to the song. The video is one of her best imo. The choreo

Two more boring Mariah singles gone! Good riddance!
I do like "I'm Glad," though. The chorus has a nice bounce to it.

#27: Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)
Average: 6.846154 - Highest: 10 (And Now I Wonder, jinzo, Green), Lowest: 0 (Ace Reject)
Peak Position: Non-US single, #1 UK
Released: 3 October 2000
Album: Rainbow
There are two versions of Mariah's variant of "Against All Odds", which was first recorded by Phil Collins. The first is the solo version, which was released in a few European countries and Canada in October 2000. This version was a moderate hit, reaching the top 20 in most markets. The second form of this song is a duet by Mariah and Irish boyband Westlife, and was included on the British and Irish versions of Rainbow. This one was released a month earlier. It reached #1 in the UK and Ireland, in addition to charting within the top three in Denmark and Sweden. There are two separate music videos. The clip for the solo version of "Against All Odds" is composed of scenes of Mariah performing the song on her Rainbow World Tour. The duet variant shows Westlife and Carey recording the song and exploring the Italian island of Capri.

Rainbow is a disgusting piece of trash. Now all I need is TGIFY to go and Heartbreaker to win and I'll be SET.

"Can't Take That Away" is.... borderline okay, but that's it.
But "Boy (I Need You)" is a big UGH. Her vocals were just BAD and it ruins the original for me. IMO Mariah's worst single.
I really like the production in "I'm Glad" but it is a little boring. The video though....
I actually just heard Phil Collins' original version of "Against All Odds" on the radio like an hour ago which reminds me of how bland Mariah's version is.
Wow. I love Mariah, but I don't think I've ever bashed her so badly before. Forgive me lambs!

If you didn't know Ace was a Mariah stan...
Anyway, Mariah's version of "Against All Odds" is so bland it actually made me like Phil Collins' version less. That's an accomplishment.

Against the Odds lasting longer than Get Your Number, Crybaby, Don't Stop, Boy, & Can't Take That Away is an outrage.
I didn't know rates below 1 were allowed. In my opinion, some songs truly deserved a rate of 0...
