You're so corny for this stupid question lol. Just because you and your twitter buddies only discuss Katy Perry and Rihanna doesn't mean the GP doesn't regard Mariah freaking Carey as a legend. "Fantasy Remix" changed the R&B/Pop game. Butterfly is regarded as one of the most influential R&B/Pop albums of all time. After selling literally between 10 to 35 million copies with each album in the 90's, TEOM, released in 2005, repeated her long streak. C'mon now dude. Most of us already proved you wrong, just let go and let God.
Some of you girls are seriously so dumb. Can't believe I just saw a Whitney Houston fan trying to come for Mariah's legacy as if Mariah didn't surpass that back in 2005!
The answer is yes Mariah is one of the biggest legends alive! How many more genres and vocal stylings does she need to come out and literally REDEFINE before getting her credit? This is all in addition to her unprecedented success, longevity and talent.
No, it really wasn't. It's Christmas music, it's just silly music that middle class people play for a few weeks a year. Am I the only one who never listens to Christmas music? It's utterly boring and pointless.
Those albums are iconic and changed the landscape. Merry Christmas was a successful Christmas themed album and had a catchy pop song on it. That's all.
If Merry Christmas was just a successful album with catchy pop song on it THEN WHY are there no xmas album, until now, that was able to replicate its impact? Why is AIWFCIY still considered as the last modern christmas classic? Please explain.
You can only say she's a legend when the word is watered down . Real legends are in the line of MJ, Madonna, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin... Mariah no where has the influences like those. She's not even the most influential of the 90s, Nirvana are.
i always find it strange when people try to claim mariah isn't a legend, she's literally one of the most successful and influential female artists of all time.
They are mostly stans of ppl Mariah obliterated with her legendary shades.
She might be nowhere near MJ level, but saying Mariah doesn't have impact and doesn't influence new generation of vocalists is a bs. Mariah is a legend, no matter how you twist it, since she is successful, has impact and influence other singers, etc etc
I have never heard it on radio, ever, and I doubt people on the streets will be able to name at least one Mariahs song. They all sound the same anyway.
You =/= the world. You sound dumb as hell.

Girl you need to stop. How is an Amy/Lauryn album bigger than any of Mariah's albums from the 90's. Stop being so deluded.

Watered down? So people like Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Anita Baker etc. who are considered legends are not actual legends then? And if you want to get that technical then most artists discussed on this board are not legends including Madonna based on your definition.
