Leona Lewis···Biggest Selling Song Of The Year!
"Bleeding Love" has been #1 in the UK for 3 weeks now and has sold 489,153 copies in total. That is enough for it to be the biggest selling song of the year in the UK. The previous title holder was "Grace Kelly" by MIKA.
It seems as if Leona will have one of the biggest albums of the year as well. Some say not even the Spice Girls can stop her.

Spirit is predicted to atleast sell over 300,000 copies. I predict it'll do sell about 370,000 copies (the biggest since Dido's Life For Rent in 2003 selling 400,000 copies)! The Spice Girls will only manage about 200,000 max - and that's being generous!

It's finally out! Leona posted a message to her fans on her blog....
Quote:
12/11/2007 My album’s in the shops now! Wow!
Sorry its been a bit of time since I blogged last…
Hey everyone,
Sorry its been a bit of time since I blogged last - things have been so very crazy in world Leona!!
Things are even crazier now as my FIRST album is in shops TODAY!!!! WOW!!!
Would love to know what all you guys think so get on my forum and let me know as I read it as much as I can!!!
I have so many favourites on there and every song represents a different part of me and each track is so special in some way.
I haven’t been out to see it in a shop yet but I have to go and do that later!!
Firstly I want to say the biggest thank you to everyone for all your support with my new single ‘Bleeding Love’ - 3 weeks at number 1!
It’s beyond my wildest dreams and I couldn’t have done it without all your support. Thank you!!
I found out I was number 1 while I was at London Studios recording the Divas show! I had a cake, party poppers and all my family was there so it was brilliant! I loved the Divas show and was so excited to be sharing the stage with idols of mine like Celine Dion & Alicia Keys.
I met Celine Dion at the show which was SO exciting - I got a bit starstruck and couldn’t say much! She is so beautiful and talented! I can’t wait to hear the new album. I’m so pleased i got to see her when she performed in Vegas a few months ago as its coming up to her last show now!
Last Thursday i performed at the Harpers Bazaar Party in London which was fantastic. It was a great crowd of people and when I performed ‘Bleeding Love’ they all sang along which was incredible, it was the first time I’d heard anyone sing the song back to me! The party was themed black & gold so i got to wear a brilliant Alberta Feritti black dress to party in and for my performance i went for a bright Pink Cavalli gown which was so fun to wear! Thanks Cavalli!
On Wednesday I got to perform at the Oxford Street Christmas lights switch on. SO many people came along and they even had to shut the street down! I sang ‘Bleeding Love’ and then got to actually switch the switch for the lights! - there was lots of fireworks that went off and all the beautiful lights on the street came alight - it was incredible! I then had to jet straight across to Leicester Square for the premiere of ‘Enchanted’ the new Disney movie. Disney so very kindly presented me with an animation that they designed of me - its so beautiful and I’m very honoured to have had a Disney princess made of me!! It must be every girls dream! You can see it below!

I also won my first award this week Cosmo Fun Fearless Female Awards presented me with ‘Best Newcomer’ - I was overwhelmed as the awards recognise amazing women doing brilliant things in their life, it was so inspiring being around them. Brian Freidman presented me with my Award and also Perez Hilton did a video message that really made me laugh! He’s been so amazingly supportive! Thanks Perez! Love your puppy!!! Sooo cute! Congratulations to all the other winners and big thanks to Cosmo!!
I went to Ireland on Friday to perform on The Late Late Show which was great fun - I love Ireland it’s such a fun place. Everyone is so friendly, especially the cab driver who picked me up from the gym! Hope your injury is better!!! Ha ha!
Also hello to everyone that came to the Birmingham lights on Saturday to see me perform!!! Thanks so much!
OK guys I have to go and see Mr Cowell now so until next time,
Lotsa Luv
Leona

From Press Association:
Leona's album trouncing Spice Girls
Leona Lewis is outselling the Spice Girls by four to one on the first day of their album chart battle - and challenging for the fastest-selling UK debut of all time.
Copies of her album, Spirit, are flying off the shelves across the UK. The X Factor winner is on course to sell around 100,000 copies by Monday's end, according to industry estimates.
The Spice Girls are managing just a quarter of that figure with their Greatest Hits.
At HMV stores, Lewis is outselling the rest of the top 10 combined. If sales continue at this rate, she is on target to shift around 350,000 copies by the end of the week. That will put her within touching distance of the record for a UK debut.
Arctic Monkeys currently hold that record with Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, which sold 363,735 copies in its first week of release in January 2006.
The other big release of the week, Led Zeppelin's Mothership, is at number four, behind Celine Dion's Taking Chances.
Lewis, 22,
winner of last year's X Factor, is already celebrating after her single, Bleeding Love, became the biggest selling song of the year on Sunday. It has sold 111,978 copies over the last seven days.
HMV's Gennaro Castaldo said: "Leona's success is all the more remarkable as this is a huge week for Christmas releases, with heavyweight albums from the likes of the Spice Girls, Led Zeppelin and Celine Dion.
"There has been a growing feeling over the past few weeks that this album would be huge, particularly following the success of Bleeding Love and the impact of Leona's appearance on X Factor. But, if anything, Spirit may even go on to exceed these high expectations.

Lewis set to smash Arctic Monkeys' record
Tue Nov 13, 2007 7:54pm GMT
(Reuters) - "X Factor" winner Leona Lewis is on course to break the record for Britain's fastest-selling debut album, retailer HMV said on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old singer's album "Spirit" had already sold more than 130,000 copies by Monday night and could top 400,000 sales by the weekend, it said.
That would put Lewis ahead of Sheffield indie band Arctic Monkeys, who sold 363,735 copies of "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" in its first week of release in January 2006.
"Leona's success ... is absolutely remarkable," said HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo.
"Aside from breaking the Arctics' record for the fastest-selling debut album, Leona is already looking a safe bet for the Christmas number one, and is very likely to bank more than a million sales before the end of the year."
Lewis, from Hackney in east London, has become used to breaking sales records after winning ITV's "X Factor" talent show last year.
On Sunday she snatched the crown for the best-selling single of the year, as "Bleeding Love" chalked up total sales of 490,000.
Last month the track smashed the 2007 record for the most singles sold in a first week of release, with sales of 218,000.
Her debut single, "A Moment Like This", broke records when it was downloaded 50,000 times in the first half hour on release last December and sold 600,000 copies in its first week.

Leona Lewis To Do Highly Anticipated Duet With Your Fav Artist!
Quote:
Sean Kingston, Leona Lewis to duet?
Thursday, November 15 2007, 14:01 GMT
By Kimberley Dadds
Sean Kingston has revealed that he thinks Leona Lewis has an "amazing voice" and that he plans to to perform a duet with her for the American audience.
Last year's X Factor winner, who is currently topping the UK charts with 'Bleeding Love', has revealed that she will be trying to break into the US next year.
Kingston has insisted that he will help her, telling the Daily Star: "I really like Leona. My people were telling me just this week I'm going to doing a song with her in the US.
"I like her style. She has an amazing voice. We're gonna hook up and do something special. But it's just for America."
Lewis has admitted that she is looking forward to having a new audience in the US, saying: "I'm releasing my album in the States next year. It's really exciting. It's a fresh start for me there as they won't know me from X Factor."

![barf](images/smilies/images/smilies/pukey.gif) It was bad enough that he had to corrupt Natasha, but he better not come within a mile of Leona. Bleeding Love should be the first American single unless an unbelievable song is recorded soon.

Singer Lewis grabs record debut
Singer Leona Lewis has set a British record for the fastest-selling debut album with Spirit. Sprit sold more than 375,000 copies in seven days, some 12,000 more than the Arctic Monkeys' 2006 release Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
But Oasis still have the overall record for the fastest selling British album, selling 813,000 copies in 1997.
As well as having the top album, the 22-year-old X Factor winner's track Bleeding Love is still the No 1 single.
Spirit is now the fourth fastest-selling album of all time, beneath Be Here Now, Coldplay's X&Y, and Dido's Life For Rent.
In a week of new entries in the album chart, the Spice Girls' Greatest Hits compilation made its debut at number two, while Led Zeppelin collection Mothership entered at number four.

Celine Dion's Taking Chances came into the chart at number five, and US band Killers made their entrance at number seven with Sawdust.
Opera star Andrea Bocelli's "best of" collection, Vivere, was a new entry at number eight.
The top 10 singles saw two new entries, with Bloc Party's Flux coming into the chart at number eight.
And folk-rock veterans Runrig are enjoying their first ever top 10 single, after a new version of Loch Lomond, released for Children in Need, entered at number nine.
It features the sound of over 50,000 Scottish football fans singing along to the track at Hampden Park last month, before the national side's victory over Ukraine.

Will she be able to bring that same success to the US?

She might. "Bleeding Love" definately has potential for US radio. I think she sounds a lot like Toni Braxton. ;p
So how well did S Club 7 and Spice Girls do album-wise?
