Yes many people have already have bowed out, but none of those "girls" had 1/4 of the success Gaga had. Not only that, but Gaga's peak has been immensly bigger than all of those you just listed. Notice i said "peak", not longevity. She is the first person since Michael and Madona to completely transcend music. She is a movement. She dominates pop culture for any and everything she does or says, from MTV to CNN..
|
Are you being so dense on purpose or... tell me WHAT impact GaGa has made that knocks all of the others? Britney Spears dominated pop culture 1999-2000. She WAS pop culture at that time. SHE was the movement. Hence, you don't see Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, and hell throw Willa Ford in there, relevant anymore as they were beneath her wing back in the days. We won't even discuss what Beyonce Knowles & P!nk have done.
So, really I'd like you to list everything GaGa has done that discerns everything the names mentioned have done.

And Britney didn't "transcend" music? Her music videos, movies and music made her a global phenomenon. She was bigger then than Lady GaGa is today. Think about it. The only thing that's keeping Lady GaGa famous is her craziness. Britney had very little personality but was already so successful.

Is it drugs honey?
Janet has inspired everyone from Aaliyah to Britney to Ciara. Who has Gaga inspired? No one instead she is being compared to Madonna and Elton John.

2003-2004 Beyonce was untouchable by any female in the world literally. Every chart had her name at the top of it and every award show, television screen, and etc had her face on it. Tommy Hilfiger stopped being racist just so SHE could endorse his perfume. Shes been listed as the most powerful musician in the world in multiple occasions by Forbes. She became the first woman to do a lot of things that I dont feel like naming. She won a record 5 Grrammy's in a single night, she released "Crazy In Love" which is the most respected and most iconic song of the 00's as said by Billboard, Rolling Stone, and many other sources and lets not forget her other endeavors in movies, fashion, and music.

Okay, so i'm going to need for peolple in this thread to immediately find a dictionary and study the defentition of an "opinion"..
The wonderful thing about opinions is that we are all entitled to our own. Therefore, don't assume that because one person simply states their own that their attempting to change yours.
I THINK Lady Gaga's "peak" has been more prominent than all of her peers, and many of her predecessors. Deal with it.

Oh, and she TIED that record again. Lauryn Hill made the record.
And if you wanna talk about Tommy Hilfiger , then he stopped being racist in 1998 because Aaliyah modeled for him.
Other than that,

Oh, you can have an opinion. But clearly, you're just speaking because you can't back it up. You've only been asked to explain why you think so, but you can't. This is a discussion forum after all.

I know it's your own opinion and we are asking you to break it down to us, you're making her impact seem like it just overshadows the other girls heavily when that's not true.

I agree but i'm able to differentiate between an arguement and a discussion. Unfortunatly, Atrl more often prefers the former. I should have known better

You misinterpret my posts. I never said her impact has overshadowed anyone. I said her "peak" has immensly overshadowed all of their peaks. As in, none of the others have been as dominant a force at a single point in history as she is at this exact moment. Maybe Britney was, but i don't remember it

Wont you guys let up? Lady Gaga owns every other girl this era 2007-2010. And I'm even a Lady Gaga fan.

Ok I don't follow Gaga but I remember her performed "Just Dance" in Miss Universe 2007. It (along with "Poker Face") was a hit first in Canada on that same year before it became a hit in the US at the start of 2008 and the rest was history. And she's ubiquitous since then.

This sounds like BS, especially since Janet has already spoken on Gaga before. Why not have mentioned this the first time she spoke on her?
Also, Gaga has admitted to being a huge Janet stan, so you 3 trolls posing as Gaga stans need to find a chair, and sit.

Fixed.
Britney Spears DEFINES Pop music, she IS the Pop Icon of the this decade, and will BE the Queen of Pop of the coming decade. The only 2 names that MOVE countries are MADONNA and BRITNEY.
Lady Gaga is NOTHING in comparison. She didn't change ANYTHING in the Pop culture, nor she EVER will. Matter fact, she's %100 a carbon copy of Madonna and Britney, only a creepier, mentally challenged one.
ATRL should be shut down, I can't believe there are people in here who think Gaga is bigger than Janet ****ing Jackson. What the **** am I doing here?

I would be the first to say that GaGa's era rival's anybody's peak, including Janet's. She may not have a movie etc going on but that's because she's new, Janet was a veteran--plus she had her family--by the time she starred in Poetic Justice.
GaGa did it all on her own, and she is every bit as big as any new superstar can be. The only people bigger were Madonna during Like a Virgin/True Blue, MJ during Thriller and maybe a couple others like Whitney (Bodyguard) and Prince (Purple Rain). It's obvious that GaGa will one day be in their realm.
|
Mariah Carey was bigger, Britney Spears too. And I would like to see Gaga stans talking when she starts writing songs that actually mean something to the society like Janet did and does
