They're saying on the news that the plane probably flew into Russian air pace, and they didn't know it was carrying civilians and they thought it was hostile
It is all over the news now.
It's still not clear what happened to today's Malaysia Airlines flight but last night, as the US announced new sanctions on Russia, American officials suggested Russian weapons were behind the downing of a Ukrainian transport aircraft on Monday. Here's what they had to say:
"On July 14th, Ukrainians lost an An-26 transport jet, which was shot down from an altitude of 21,000 feet, with eight crew on board. And only very sophisticated weapons systems would be able to reach this height."
Yeah, Russia isn't getting away with this. The Malaysians are going to go for blood with this being their second incident of losing a plane (of which I have my suspicions regarding it's disappearance now).
Goddamn, this is absolutely terrible. RIP to all the victims.
And yeah, the airline is to blame to some extent for not having the brains to avoid the Russia-Ukraine border at all costs, but that doesn't excuse Russia's actions AT ALL, of course.
