Agreed. 4 is the better album.
And, yes, the critical reception was definitely inflated by the release method. In fact, most publications that reviewed it focus A LOT on that.

I mean, it's touching, but so are many other ballads.
The structure is that of a Pop ballad, the instrumental is a piano, like most Pop ballads that aren't guitar-driven, and the lyrics/vocals are pleasant, but not out-of-this-world.
Again, we're comparing it to OTHER albums. As a stand alone song, it's good. But it's not superior to many other songs similar to it made by other Pop stars.
