It doesn't show in the numbers one this year, because of all the competitiveness.. but it took "RITD," "GME," etc. a couple weeks to really get those hard hitting drops. And Ke$ha is still ~6300 spins away.
I don't think "Daylight" is as good as some other choices. But at this point they are Top 40 candy, listeners are eating them up this year.

I have exact the same take on Daylight's fate. Not the best single to pick up (though its bells - quite Coldplay-ish - sound can fit well the Xmas time feel actually), but at this point it seems that Maroon 5 could pick pretty much any song from their offerings and it would get played.
As soon as the rolling effect after yesterday's massive update will cause them their first negative consistent drops, OMN shall start to - I also think slowly though - fall.
I think the rate of that falling will be mostly determined by the public response to Daylight actually.
Payphone started to fall faster when OMN started to be appreciated more.
If the public clicks with Daylight, OMN will start to crumble faster, because then radios will pick it up to fill their devoted Maroon 5 on-air space (because it's clear that this era there is a space they devote to them, rather than not.)
I expect Diamonds and Locked Out Of... to benefit the most from OMN crumbling. In that order, probably.
