It's not yet proven that SLS is linked to cancer but they sure make my skin drier & my hair unmanageable. Not surprising since it is the main ingredient in detergent soaps. I wouldn't want that on my skin & hair.
No. It's not a great example, but that's like saying that showering off after having unprotected sex is good enough. If that stuff gets in your blood stream, that's where the possibility of it affecting you comes in, and you can't rinse it out of your blood stream.
I think this is an exaggeration, the effects of carcinogenic substances are nullified by the DNA protection mechanisms as long as the exposure is short and the quantity is little. I agree that these substances should be replaced by natural formulae as much as possible, but here we are making a big big fuss about something that isn't that worryingly dangerous.
So... it is not backed up by research. The links you posted give NO evidence at all that the substances, in the quantities used in personal care products, caused cancer.

This article really sent in why I shouldn't actively use shampoo every time I shower if I ever do shampoo my hair. Thanks for posting this article Swag, it will give me second thoughts about buying certain shampoos over others while looking for that chemical
