Demi still lacks control and oversings much too often, something Kelly was never a fan of. Powerful, soulful and clear vocals are what gave Kelly her credentials and critical acclaim and at this moment in time, those adjectives do not describe Demi's vocals.
Fact.
Her oversinging is becoming a crutch and not something that elevates her vocals.

Demi's critical acclaim as a vocalist pretty much comes from her power & soulfulness. And she has clear vocals too, what performances do you watch?
Kelly even said she's a fan of Demi's voice.
And I never said she has the control of Kelly, but her belts are similar. Demi is a great belter, she controls her belts well, if you actually look into why Demi is a critically acclaimed vocalists it's
because of the pure power and resonance (which makes something a belt, not a scream) in her belts.
And she oversings in terms of melisma, but she doesn't use bad technique when executing it, and she never oversings like Aguilera did. Aguilera's belting was strained, Demi's is not. Fact.
I think people on here are exaggerating on her control. No vocal critics have talked about that, her control is fine, she is pitchy sometimes and it's clear that's due to other factors affecting her voice.
Look at some of the videos I posted here. Her belts are clear, crisp, and well executed when she's at her best. And powerful, of course.
