This is what I think. As a solo artist this IS his breakout year. His first solo "album" was a limited released CHRISTIAN album back in 2005 so that doesn't count and then his "second" was with another band so it wasn't solo, so this was his first REAL solo album. The Jonas Brothers nomination for Best New Artist is what makes it difficult for him because if it wasn't for it then I would be sure he would get one, imo.

He was previously nominated with The Jonas Brothers. This is the same reason Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé were denied entry into Best New Artist. The rules were changed after Lauryn Hill won BNA even after winning two Grammys with The Fugees. There is no case you can make for Nick here.

K.Dot is 100% nominated for AOTY. The hype, the massive acclaim, the Macklemore situation that still has people pissed.. Jermaine has none of these. He deserves to win at least one award but this will be Kendrick's night

They should get rid of BNA category entirely. There's too much confusion over the eligibility requirements and way too many inconsistencies in the nominees over the years.

Hozier and Meghan were both general field nominees last year, we know them, they had their "Grammy debut" already, they should not show up here. The Weeknd would be a whole other Shelby Lynn mess.
