Honestly this kind of ahistorical attitude is borderline offensive. Sub-Saharan Africans didn't contribute much at all to civilization, its not pretty but its just the truth. Because they were inherently different? No, of course not, to suggest so is just racism, obviously it was geographic and environmental factors in Africa that created barriers and held them back.
African Americans? A totally different story. Their contributions to modern culture and society are immense. But there is no need to twist African history for an agenda, it makes you no better than the pro-European white washing historians of the 19th and 20th centuries.
