I don't get what you're going at here though? If they were marketed as a dance + sing group ala pussycat dolls then I could see you complaining, but they never claimed to be? I've seen One Direction performances. They aren't very good. Their album is bad except for like 2 songs. They offer nothing and don't entertain. The Wanted is just as bad as well. If you can't accept that opinion then that is just a shame for you.

Because One Direction is a modern boy band that doesn't have to fit into the construct that the older boy bands made for themselves. Boy bands that have tried to come in and be NSYNC/BB/NKOTB clones have failed miserably. 1D do well for themselves because they are different.

Also I suggest you watch The Wanted's performance at the Billboard Music Awards. They have somewhat strong vocals for a boyband. Don't even pretend Backstreet Boys and the like had outstanding vocals

And THIS is my point! My only issue is people acting like we were off-topic for posting Korean boy band performances, which implies that Korean boy bands aren't allowed to be involved in a boy band discussion, presumably because they're Korean.

I never said it was bad or good. I'm neutral to it. However, many people see it as a bad thing because they didn't come together organically, they were put together by Simon Cowell, like many boy bands before. And that leaves a sour taste in peoples mouths.

Alright, I am DONE. My point was K-Pop world is completely different than than the Western world. I don't really give a rat's ass if you post in the thread, but the OP in this thread was comparing Nsync and the Backstreet Boys to current boy bands like The Wanted and One Direction. K-Pop has absolutely NO IMPACT in that world.

No one is going to compare One Direction and the Wanted to bands like SHINee or 2PM. It doesn't make any sense.

I did watch The Wanted on BBMA they sucked. Too be honest, I've never even been here for American/British boy bands in the first place, even with N'Sync and BB.
