The rest of 2016 already looks very crowed with likely albums by Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake.
And let's face it: She would be overshadowed by them.

So releasing in 2017 would not only give her time to shine, it would also keep the pop scene alive in the first few months.

After 3 YEARS of performing jazz renditions and doing all sorts of tributes , the last thing I could possibly care about, quite honestly, is her being overshadowed by the likes of Bruno or Katy or whoever chooses to release in the same period of time.

We've been so mistreated with her last pop era and it's all been so tiring since then that the only thing most of us need right now is music, nothing more than that. Every bit of success or acclaim or whatever is just bonus at this point.
