This thread asks if Burlesque will be more successful than Crossroads.
There's a difference in this movie making a profit for the studio and in being more successful than Crossroads.
Crossroads made 5x it's budget. So...Burlesque would have to equal or surpass 5x it's budget to be AS successful as Crossroads. What the budget IS does not matter. In terms of comparing the success of both, one would have beat the other in a measurable form. Studios want profit so look there, and it's a measurable way to gauge success anyone can do if they took basic math.
There's no voodoo or witchcraft going on here. Go back to the first post, look at the numbers, and do the figures yourself. They should be close to mine.
For it to be profitable, that's a MUCH lower figure. Maybe $150 million tops, but at least $110 million(2x the budget due to theater's earnings, promotional costs, etc.).
This isn't difficult stuff I'm throwing at yall Aguierla fans
Compare the runs of both and see where they are and how they got there. Burlesque IS NOT on schedule to get anywhere near Crossroads' success and will be lucky if it makes a profit at all.
