There are so many gays out there who date/marry women, even in liberal places
I hate them because they always give me this horny stare and some of them are actually hot but I can't get it in with him because he's with a woman he doesn't desire

And you guys are doing the most with this "well India is a homophobic country so you shouldn't blame the man. She killed herself at the end of the day" argument while completely ignoring the oppression of women and divorce-shaming in India.

That's horrible, RIP!
IA with her that gay guys shouldn't pretend to be straight and MARRY these women either. ESPECIALLY in the U.S. where they don't need to. I do, however, understand that things are... Different in India, and that it's far worse for gay people there. Still wrong, but I do get it, at least

How about those of us who blame Indian culture? And I can't believe people are blaming her

Exactly. After this was big news, there were dozens of articles about Indian and Chinese women who divorced their gay husbands and talking about their experiences. None of them had it easy after that.

We've already covered this multiple times. She could have divorced, but her life would have been difficult. There are few options for women after getting divorced in most Asian countries unless you're really rich or famous, which she's not. So what's difference between staying in a marriage in a gay man and getting a divorce? At least with the former, she'd have a relatively stable life. You implied earlier in this thread that you'd consider getting married to a woman even though you're gay so maybe that's why you're sympathizing with him.

It's not even that bad. He wouldn't be physically harmed or harassed. The worst thing be would definitely be experiencing is the overwhelming nagging from his mother and his family to get married and the social pressure, but he can refuse like a lot of gay people in India and other Asian countries do.

This is assuming they never think he's gay. If they DO.... it can get really bad is my understanding. I still think he's in the wrong and should've kept holding out on the marriage, but I do understand the motives. As said, I put most the blame on the society itself ad how much it needs to change

No, I meant under a hypothetical situation where he made it clear or at least implied he's gay. And how can it get "really bad"? I think you're confusing India with another part of the world. The worst horror story I've heard is parents breaking contact with a gay man, but that's rare and it happens everywhere. Most of the time, they just don't talk about it and are in denial.

Can't you get arrested there for being gay? And I imagine if that happens, other things do too. That said, I could be mixing up countries and policies on gay rights.

No, there's no record of being arrested for being gay. India, Singapore and other ex-British colonies in Asia still retain British Victorian era laws, but they're not observed.
I think you are confusing India with other parts of the world. A lot of mainstream Americans think South Asia is related to the Middle East when it's not. In fact, Hollywood often hires Indian or Pakistani actors to play Middle Eastern characters American TV shows and most Americans don't see anything wrong with the casting even though they don't look the part at all.

If it's actually not bad there, than my mistake and the guy is just completely in the wrong for faking it and there's no understandable motive. I don't know everything about every culture, but I did recall seeing other people in here saying they're bad and I think I'd heard they were bad which led to the confusion

It is bad because there's no social acceptance. People don't want to talk about homosexuality (or sexuality in general) because it's a taboo subject so the vast majority of gay people are closeted or even outright lying to cover it up like this guy did. Also, it's not like most parents would ever want a gay child over a straight child, especially in cultures where your family comes before your own desires.
It's like the other thread about the Philippines where most Filipinos surveyed are against gay marriage, but gay people in the country are treated fine by others or even really well. There's tolerance, but it doesn't equate acceptance. Just because you're not being harassed, murdered or jailed doesn't mean it's good.

That many? Damn. Karachi is a mess though. My mum was telling me recently that my uncle used to live in Karachi. He had an awesome job but his boss was killed by a hitman. After that my granddad made my uncle return to their hometown before he got attacked too. That was in the 80s so if it's still happening... .
Karachi is in Pakistan though...

Okay, now I get you. Yeah, that's definitely hard and I get staying closeted. That said, marrying a girl to look straight in THAT situation is totally unacceptable and there's really no way to justify it (whereas if there's legal consequences for being gay, usually people can get away with other things too and it's basically of the utmost importance to seen straight, Russia for example)
