Rihanna does what she wants yes, but the fans are one of the few things she really does care about. You should know that.
Her speech at the Brits showed this. Obviously she understands she will get backlash for this and would be "misunderstood", but she did it anyway. Probably because she still feels strongly for Chris, and would like to move her and his life on. The best way she thought to do that was to release two fun remix tracks - for the fans of both artists.
If it had been some dramatic ballad, THAT would've been milking it. Nobody will really care about this, in fact, some news sites are receiving positive comments about this.
In the eyes of the public, this is just a peace treaty and nothing else. That's all she probably wanted from this too.
