Edit: Though the progressives/tea party "punishing" the mainstream is more common I think. Nader being the most recent instance? Voter turnout breakdowns for that election would be interesting. Did the youth support Nader a lot?

Reading on him, Nader was an entirely different story. Huh. Lots of material there. Makes this cycle seem even more exciting since there isn't recent precedent.

It would be most interesting, imo, if Hillary won the nomination but narrowly lost the general.

And yeah, sexism is such a pervasive issue this election that Hillary is the odds on favorite to win the democratic nomination and likely the presidency, which has been the case for going on a year.

I was reading a poll that stated a larger portion of current Hillary supporters wouldn't vote for Bernie in the general than the other way around. Of course this is all in the heat of a primary. In 6 months when one of them gets it and the other endorse the nominee and campaigns for him/her, I'm sure that'll help pick up support.

No. Blacks (especially millennials) have been using these jokes for quite sometime. Especially after the "Just chilling" video and the Ellen dance segments.

But that has little impact on voting especially in places like South Carolina. People actually care about real issues.

Trump is more socioeconomically liberal than any other GOP candidate I can think of. He agrees with single payer healthcare, is against the war on drugs, seems to agree on the scientific consensus on climate change, against political corruption and against so called 'free trade' deals.

As far as single payer goes, he used to be for that. I rather have someone be inconsistent and change their mind to the right decision i.e. Hillary Clinton than be right before and change it to the wrong decision, i.e. Donald Trump. Why would we care about what he used to support if he is actively campaigning against it?

Trump has vigorously opposed Obamacare. He calls for a replacement but has yet to give any solid details. Likely, it will be "kiddycare" in order for it to get passed congress.

His tax plan is basically the same as Romney's and Bush's. It's not as conservative as Cruz or Huckabee's, but it still to the right of Hillary.

Hillary would probably beat all Republican candidates. Rubio is the only one who would be a serious challenge, but he has yet to win a state and probably won't anytime soon. That will change the poll and put Hillary ahead especially if she wins the next few states.

I can't remember the speech now but he mentioned that he also against the power of pharma companies to force people to pay retail for drugs. Moreover he has a focus on saving the lower and middle classes which is more than can be said for all the other republican candidates. He's an interesting outlier and though I don't at all agree with him I feel that come election day if it ends up as Trump vs Hilary, some Bernie supporters may just be swayed towards Trump.

Eh. Bernie and Clinton would beat all of the republicans (well I don't think Bernie would beat Trump). They're right to say this far out those polls don't mean anything because they have been scarcely accurate in history. I don't remember the last time general election matchup polls 7 months before the election were actually accurate (and I've been following polls from 2000 on. Though I wasn't super active politically until 2008). We'll have to wait and see.
