Isn't it frightening watching Miley's VMA performance? Like it's hard to believe it was an actual thing. That actually happened.
It's been nearly a year and I still have so many questions.
Why did she perform like that? Literally NONE of her performances are similar to this. Sure, she'll act like a raunchy mess on tour but there's the air of a choreographed mess to it, a poised mess almost. To be honest (and a bit of a conspiracy freak) it's like Miley wasn't even herself that night.
I find the part where she's stroking invisible hair particularly weird. I really don't get it what she's supposed to be referencing.
It would be easy to say she was deliberately trying to be as big of a hot mess as possible but I'm not sure if I buy that. I honestly think she was stupidly nervous and just got really carried away. Her rehearsal vocals were >>> her actual vocals. Plus there were the sources claiming the rehearsals were a lot more conservative than what actually went down. I think Miley genuinely did want to make a splash but it ended up accidentally being a bit of a tsunami. I don't think I believe she really planned for the performance to be the exact way it did.
