They do, definitely. But in some states (say Nevada) you need a strong support of minorities to win. Sanders winning 60-40 over republicans for Latinos won't cut it. Same for Hillary winning 60-40 if she faces Rubio there. Most would vote democrat but by how much is more important.

I still believe Sanders will find his minority vote soon though so this shouldn't be a problem for him down the road if he is the nominee

I think it is a mixture of Bush exhaustion and him not looking "genuine" enough. I think a lot of the evangelicals are also tired of being pandered to without any action done so they have been ignoring those with the experience and/or establishment.

Trump is a liberal, he probably just found it much easier to appeal to republicans because most of them are uneducated and unintelligent to the political process.
