What's happened may be for the best. If Venus takes off, fantastic, but if it just serves it's purpose of promoting the album but doesn't go beyond that then that's good too.
Hopefully DWUW being received positively and the general hesitance to Aura (which she/they obviously thought was a smash) is showing them to be more cautious with their choices.
It's the throw back midtempos that seem to be hitting the spot. SD, DWUW, G.U.Y, Gypsy, ARTPOP...
I wouldn't be surprised if the next album was R&B/pop and the uptempo dance was forgotten.

I agree, the era will go quite smoothly if G.U.Y., Gypsy, and SD are the next singles. They seem to be garnering the most positive reactions. If Venus does end up being better than the snippets indicate, then I wouldn't mind it being a single much later in the era, when the single choices aren't as important/critical as they are right now.
But I agree, whatever happens to Venus now is ultimately for the best, if people absolutely love it, then it could be a single eventually, but if it garners a more subdued reaction, but serves its purpose of promoting the album, then that's fine, too.
And I really would be here for a more R&B/pop album next time, especially if DWUW smashes like it seems it will. We can't forget that the best received song of the BTW era was TEOG, which was quite different from Gaga's standard dance pop music.
