This song was really love at first listen for me! I come from an area of the US that has a rich history of gospel music, and this song takes many inspirations from gospel. It feels like an extremely spiritual song. Is Emeli singing about God or a real man being next to her through the hard times? I'm not sure; I don't know her religious beliefs. The clap-friendly beats bring back memories of last year's clapping hit, "Rolling in the Deep". I think this song could have that kind of success in the US if Emeli ever wanted to break through here. The song was a huge success in the UK, peaking at #2.

This song  This songgggg I didn't feel much for this song at first, but now it's one of my favorite songs I've heard this year. "Go" is basically a cover of "Ain't Nobody" by Chaka Kahn, except with a new chorus and bridge. The verses are exactly the same, but they're in a different order, and the rearrangement makes it feel like a completely different song. I've never seen an artist use this concept before, and I find extremely daring and interesting to re-work a song like that. In addition to all of this, the instrumental is stunning. That intro really catches my attention. The song is, by far, Delilah's most successful solo single, peaking at #17 in the UK.

I wish that Heaven had been out before Next to Me.
And I'm a little disappointed that Delilah's highest rated song is gonna be her collaboration, granted it was just her vocals on the song... but still.

This might be my #1 for the entire rate. I'm not sure though. I haven't decided yet  I love how this song dismisses the myth that dance music can't be emotional. This song is emotion defined for me. I actually cried to the music video I adore the melodies and the harmonies. The stand-out part is at the end with the repetition of "Like a broken record", which sounds like a broken record lmao. This song peaked at #8 in the UK.

Happy, madonnas?  You've been calling for her head since, like, Day 3 or something  Emeli's final track in the rate is "Heaven", her debut single. Obviously, "Next to Me" should have been her top finisher, but y'all disagree! I love the intro to this song, which sets up the belief that this song will be next-level. But that's wrong. It's still a lovely song (gave it a 9), but something about Emeli's vocals irritate me. This song peaked at #2 in the UK.
P.S. I've become of big fan of the style of beats in this song since it's been used so frequently by different artists in the rate. Can anyone knowledgeable of genres inform me of what these beats are called? Thank you!!
