I wouldn't be surprised if critics go hard on ARTPOP, but are lenient on Prism.

It won't be a question of quality, but rather who they would prefer to receive praise right now. Gaga is second/third fiddle to other stars and some will revel in that turn of events, they'll lampoon her for "trying too hard" to make a good album whilst Katy's is just bubblegum under no pretence, and they haven't yet had a shot at dragging her post-BTW.

Things will turn around when people start seeing Gaga as the underdog and they get bored of beige again.

This is kinda the same case. Katy is regarded as the unacclaimed, manufactured pop tart with meaningless hits whereas Gaga is referred to [by her fans at least, because the GP could care less] as an artist, avid songwriter, and exceptional performer.

Funny thing is also that Britney also didn't have any Grammy's before 2004 and Christina was beating her out in that department. Same with Katy and Gaga.

I don't really see the similarities because Britney was always on top with 4 straight successful eras, while Christina was only on top for once - which was very short lived.

They're similar by Katy & Britney both having longevity. (but Katy didn't start off on top, she worked her way for it)

Some of it is vile but most of it is better, more thematically diverse and has stronger vocals than Britney's. That's why it has survived on HAC after all these years unlike Britney's.
