"G.U.Y." sounds like a bop but a bop only a very niche demographic would enjoy, whereas almost every song on Prism sounds like something most people would nod along to. It's basically the difference in between the two: Gaga's core fans are WAY more passionate about her, but Katy appeals to so many more people she makes up for that lack of an ardent niche following easily.

The worst part is that while Gaga brought some great stuff with her and The Fame, ARTPOP will feature some truly awful and brutal electronic breakdowns. I mean, how can anyone explain Swine? Make that song a midtempo and it resonates, the way it is, it's only a headache. Aura...

Prism has some great production moments, used with restraint, something forbidden in Joanne's her kingdom of crazy.

There are definitely no MJ's or Madonna's in the current crowd of pop acts in terms of marrying talent/music/fascination

Madonna was already in the industry for almost 10 years when Mariah debuted. Katy and Gaga are both going head to head and debuted at the same time.
