If Until Dawn counts, that. Otherwise Green Inferno or It Follows. Leaning towards TGI slightly. Not seen Starry Eyed yet.

Have you ever seen Cannibal Holocaust or any movies like it before? Sorta like a modernized version of that, but overall less outrageous and offensive, like there's VERY little sexual violence, and the one scene its present has it offscreen/implied (minus one death which ). Characters are a bunch of activists (and kinda idiots, considering their ridiculously stupid save the rain forest scheme which almost gets them killed) and mostly pretty anonymous, tho I liked Justine//Lars

The ending comes damn near close to ruining the movie, but I think Roth was poking fun at the genre with it. If he's a serious, you can drop my rating to a 1/10

Well was’t there an older version of the movie? Because I think I’ve seen that, if not I watched a movie with a strikingly similar plot I was just wondering how the remake did in comparison. But hopefully the ending isn’t THAT bad

Plot isn't something that we didn't see before, but it was very intense and I like the story of that little bitch girl. I was rooting for those 2 kids. So glad they survived It would be more fun and shocking if they killed one of them tho.

The movie's title is a shout out to Cannibal Holocaust, and the movie itself is a shout out to the Italian Cannibal genre. It's possible you've seen one of them (there were a few modern revival attempts, like the utterly dire found footage movie Welcome to the Jungle) The Wrong Turn series is also a slasher one involving cannibals and college kids in the woods, but that's sorta it for similarities.

It really depends how you interpret it. I liked it based on how I did, but there's another viable one that would drop my rating from a 7-8 to a 1 if that's the case. Lol.

Yes, if the culture sees that killing and murdering is okay, then it is okay. That is same idea that the movie was getting at when it showed how genital mutilation worked. It only becomes wrong when another culture intervenes.

EDIT: And I'm pretty sure the movie wasn't pro-genital mutilation considering they straight up say female circumcision is genital mutilation, which is hardly a supportive view of it

My problem with TGI is that the message of Cannibal Holocaust seems to be null and void. The twist in the original was much more thought-provoking.

omg TGI SCALPED me and left me bald. I went in with lower expectations since I heard it wasn't really that gory minus one scene and more of a comedy but thankfully the movie proved me wrong. Though I only found one scene really unnerving and disturbing, the whole movie was so well directed and gorgeously shot. The first cannibal kill was so disgusting, gross, and gruesome and I loved it. The lead/final girl was such a mom, loved her and I wanna see her in more projects. I also liked the stoner dude played by the guy from Spy Kids tho I forget ha name, and Amy slayed me. She was so good.

The whole movie was epic and just amazing. EASILY my favorite Eli Roth movie with Hostel a few inches behind. It Follows and Unfriended WHO? 9/10. My second fave movie of the year behind The Gift.
