I got the chance to listen to the songs on the full album three days ago and decided to share my thoughts. Cruel World is an amazing song. The guitar intro is awesome. Just the slow pace and soothing voice of Lana echoes throughout the song with a passive drive. The story of this song is about Lana and her too crazy for her ex-lover. Also tells about the f**kery between the two and of course, all dem heroin and alcohol. The sound in this song really embodies the feelings of Lana and being in a cruel world where hopelessness and being a glass half empty kind of a person is the way to go. I already gave my thoughts on the album track on its own thread same with Shades of Cool. The chords and dramatic elements in Brooklyn Baby are nice. Such an atmospheric song this is. This is essentially about her being a proud Brooklyn Baby w/ her guitar playing boyfriend. Also pissing on the new generation as she doesn’t not fit in as she is an old head in a young shoulder since she prefers the 70s in which it shows in her music in terms of musical style. Also in the art and creativity of anything oppose to the new nation where they all care about being cool. I already say my thoughts on West Coast, but screw the radio version.
The album hits such sadness that the rest with Sad Girl and Pretty When You Cry. Lana shows the emotion of her emotional state of mind in those songs. Sad Girl is about Lana wanted to be the main squeeze with her man, but the man doesn’t feel the same and thought of her being expendable. Pretty When You Cry is basically the man being sadistic about feeling good about seeing the beauty of a crying Lana. I sense more feelings in Pretty When You Cry. Money Power Glory is her personal trinity. The song sounds nice.
F**ked My Way to the Top has that dissonance sound that actually makes the song a bit better and enter to a f**kery of a song where apparently Lana is taking shot at some artist or at imitators for essentially taking the easy route of f**kin her way to the top by coping the style of Lana while Lana takes the hard stuff. Lana’s tone in the song changes throughout the song ranging from being sarcastic to seductive. Actually this song can be used to the haters that crap on Lana and her songs. And oh yeah, Lana is the best. Old Money is basically painting a picture of Lana’s younger years with her former lover and her fleeting youth. The song sounds decent. The other woman is where Lana goes more deep into her 50s/60s/70s-ish lounge/movie star-like classic voice. This song is a cover of Nina Simone song of the same name just in case somehow you guys didn’t know which I feel you guys do. Apparently, Lana loves that song so much. Black Beauty is on that lost into the darkness and vulnerable moment. Loving the echoes that Lana does and the mono-like and slow, but soothing tone sounds nice. Just all in awe. It seems that Lana can’t seems to change any man’s mind. This song is where she goes into the darkness and be all black everything just to please her man since his perspective of life is dark. Guns and Roses is not bad, but could’ve been better. So Lana and her metal loving lover likes guns, roses, and Guns n Roses. Florida Kilos is basically the stand out in terms of being more of a bop among the more somber songs. Plus the double meaning of the pre-chorus in which it could mean in Florida, Land will have cocaine to snort or sell or to show the Florida Keys. Glad you guys caught that. I live for stuff like that. Of course, this song has the theme of the trafficking of crack coke in Florida. Is This Happiness sounds so beautiful and Flipside has an unusual sound at the beginning. Reminds me of some indie band would do to make more magically and authentic. This works here for Lana and that guitar.
Overall, it may be too boring for some, but for the rest of us, we can into the feelings felt with the sound, Lana’s vocals, and getting deep into the lyrics as well. She really bought it all and the progression of it really shows and uncover a new layer of things. This album makes me wanna to go cop that, but I don’t want to waste money esp. that there are different versions of the album to get different songs. Some album review this was. At times, I think this as a curse. But at other times as a gift or something I picked up and stuck by it.

so OMG, maybe the song is about Bruno Mars after all? Plot twist? He used Emile, too.
Honestly, I doubt this song is about anybody and the lyrics aren't really diggin deep to hurt somebody. It's probably just 4 promo

Doubtful? Lol if that were the case she wouldn't have talked about it like that in the interview.

Pretty sure Lana's talking about one of her many fictional characters in FMWUTTT.

I live for Florida Kilos but part of me tells me that the chorus would be better with the infectious guitar that we hear throughout the verses. We can hear a little example when the chorus is played slowly nearing the end of the song.
