And yeah OP is pretty great. Oda knows how write intersting characters and create an interesting world. Besides that the series doesn't take itself seriously which is great.
i actually watched the first ep just to get the feel of their voices and woo lord 1999 anime is noT for me, and the story was messed up. i might watch it in anime once i'm far into the series.
anyway Oda's extra remarks at the end of some chapters are really funny and really shows he has a great personality

OP keep getting better better with every episode until episodes in 600s or 500s, last three or four arcs have been disappointing , If you are planning to watch OP then don't miss early episodes. OP have one of the most amazingly character development done. If you won't watch from the beginning it would be hard for you to get into characters and actually enjoy it fully

Yeah OP has blood all of the time unlike FT only having it rarely.
Nami's arc is one of the best arcs in OP and I would suggest watching that. I would actually watch the anime for the first 400-500 episodes and THEN read the manga from there [because of how bad the pacing gets], but that's just me.
Manga can't capture emotion like anime can and that's why I prefer anime.

I prefer this way over, say Bleach's whack ass way of explaining things. Rose is a dipshit and he deserved to get his ass whooped by Nacho Libre for explaining (in detail) how his Bankai worked in the middle of his fight.
