The premise sounded so boring but I'm so glad I gave it a shot, it's become one of my favorite shows ever

But you made a wise decision by not watching the anime.

And yeah OP is pretty great. Oda knows how write intersting characters and create an interesting world. Besides that the series doesn't take itself seriously which is great.

OP is phenomenal, (I watch the anime though). The back stories for some of the characters are really unique and powerful. The only thing bad about OP is the pacing.
