First of all let's give Acapella a bit of praise, it was released at a time she needed a hit and it gave her one. Top 5 in the UK, one of her biggest hits here, and her biggest hit in Europe since Tasty. The most obvious and safe choice for a lead and I think they made the exact right choice with it. The video is equally pretty and Kelis own take on Artpop.
As for the song, to me it's just that. The safe lead single. It's not bad by any means but it doesn't exactly inspire me in any way. It's all good but rarely 'great', the end of the song is the peak with the bridge and the brief let-up in production for the final chorus. I wouldn't put it in my own Top 10, but I don't have a problem with this considering how important the song is to her career.
Doogle says what I imagine all the twinks say after listening to Flesh Tone, "Still one of the best singles of the dance pop era, poor basics that couldn't pull this off."
Diarrhoea is not a massive fan, but his friend is! "Something about this is just really off for me, the production doesn't mesh with the singing at all. However, at least it got her another UK hit! One of my friends actually knew it, and I told him it was by the Milkshake girl, and for some reason he thought she'd died in a domestic abuse incident. Nas, his impact!" There's multiple impacts at play there but let me not elaborate...
