My response to that though is how do you know that these "cuts" are not her call? She legitimately expressed praise for Will.i.am even though fans hate him and obviously enjoys working with him, so she is definitely ok making decisions that fans aren't crazy about (as we all have experienced). Who's to say that she is not the one who said that Dev Hynes or Naughty Boy's tracks were not the sound she wanted? I just hate then when a decision is made that fans don't like, apparently it's the Larry or the label's decision, but when it's a fan-friendly decision, she automatically gets credit. At the end of the day, no one here knows who is making what decisions because we're not in her inner circle.

While a lot of upbeats on top 40 especially tend to be about the club, it doesn't necessarily mean a song can't have decent lyrics. Granted, I'm not expecting some introspective song from Afrojack, but thinking that a Britney album, even one described as "personal", won't have some club-ready bops is just unrealistic.
