I'm amazed that Pitchfork gave this a 95, especially since their Born Sinner review was not very kind at all.

Pitchfork have been licking his ass ever since he became public enemy #1 though. Since it's like totally cool for mainstream culture to reject him that's reason enough for the 2-kool-4-skool kids at Pitchfork to embrace him with open arms.

It's not like they were lying. I don't get the hype when it comes to J. Cole. He has no charisma or interesting flows and his sound is just very mediocre hip hop.

If you're going to make it like that than they've been on his ass since college dropout lol

Their review of Born Sinner basically said he borrowed too much from other artists & the past, & spent too much of his time talking about other artist's in his music. A bit harsh imo. The album is great.

No, you know exactly what I'm talking about. After all the **** that happened between 2009 and 2010 he was like public enemy #1 even more-so than before.

But he wasn't considered a "public enemy" at all during his first two eras and look at the reviews for them.

He was, but I don't know how that connects with p4k? They gave LR a 9.5 and CD 9.1 and Grad 8.7 (my numbers might be off a little). They've always given him high acclaim. He was bound 2 get a 10

I know I'm late, but I was banned during the leak. I'm finally back to say the album is incredible. His solo discography is 6/6. And I am VERY happy with anything above 350k. Let's remember the last time a rapper has done those numbers without a single....oh wait. Anyway
On Site - This song is **** compared to Dark Fantasy and other previous album openers. It is the most single ready track on the album though, and has great production and decent lyrics.
Black Skinhead- I was very worried after seeing this performed at the Governors Ball and SNL that the CDQ would be a letdown. I stand corrected. This is one of the most experimental songs he has ever done; and it pays off, for the most part.
I Am A God - Probably the most quotable song Kanye has ever released. The amazing dark production pushes this song to another level. It may not be the albums best, but it certainly fits well and delivers.
New Slaves- THANK GOD. When I watched all the projection videos, this to me sounded like Clique 2.0. But Rick Rubin and additional production made it a classic Kanye song. This song has Kanye at his very best. Frank Ocean at the end only makes the song even better.
Hold My Liquor- I was hoping for a ratchet Chief Keef verse but he still delivers here, same with Justin Vernon, who does an incredible job on this album like he did on MBDTF. Love the production and some of the one liners. This is a song to listen to if you're high (or drunk).
I'm in It- Hell of a Life 2.0 and I LOVE IT. Kanye at his most honest and lyrical. One of the best on here.
Blood on the Leaves- The centerpiece of the album for sure, and one of the best tracks Kanye has ever made. This is up there for me with Roses, Jesus Walks, and Power. The sampling/verses are incredible and thought provoking. This will be the song every remembers from this album. Amazing.
Guilt Trip- This song could have been much more. Kid Cudi saves the song. Before he comes in, we get autotuned Kanye delivering lines (half decent, half laughable) over a nice beat. But in the end, this is the most forgettable song on the album. Kanye really should've delivered more lyrically here. It is not terrible, it's just not up to the standard of the album.
Send it Up- King Louie arrives and gives the best verse on the whole album. Crazy beat, crazy replay value, and crazy verses. This one could be huge if released.
Bound 2- An amazing way to end the album. The song is refreshing and takes me back to the days when Kanye would make songs like All Falls Down and Family Business. On an album full of risks, this is the one song on here that all Kanye fans can appreciate.
Overall- I agree with the metascore. The album is fantastic, if not quite as good as his last masterpiece (MBDTF). It is my 2nd favorite Kanye album at the moment. Before anyone calls me biased, I was one of the first people to express my disappointment with Watch the Throne and Cruel Summer (which sucked dick).

Well said! I think "New Slaves" is my favorite track. Totally agree with your "Guilt Trip" critique. I've grown to enjoy it, but it's by far the most forgettable thing here. I always thought of "I'm In It" as "Hell Of A Life"'s cousin, too. I think "Send It Up" would be massive on hip-hop stations.
For me, its his third masterpiece after Late Registration and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
1. LR
2. MBDTF
3. Yeezus
4. The College Dropout
5. 808s and Heartbreaks
6. Watch The Throne
7. Graduation
8. Cruel Summer

That's not really surprising since everyone acts like liking one precludes you from liking the other.

Which is ironic in the context of Ye.
ANYWAY, my ranking right now is:
1. Graduation
2. Late Registration
3. 808s
4. Yeezus
5. College Dropout
6. WTT
7. MBDTF
But it's all very fluid, and I could see Yeezus taking out 808s.

I'm listening to Kanye's discography chronologically. Still on The College Dropout, Family Business. Still my favorite album and Family Business will remain one of his best songs ever.

I respect Kanye but how can u be excited when the cd has no boolet or artwork? I mean, you can listen to the songs online, the cd is useless.

The Nina Simone sample is one of his best ever

This is basically what's holding me from buying it physically. We still don't have it locally so I have to get it shipped from the US to the Philippines. I wanna know if it will be sold locally since I am not paying almost double for an album without any **** on it.

It's the same situation for me, i own all his previous albums, and i'm still thinking about buying this, i mean.... i want to complete my collection, but i don't think it's worth the money when i can listen to it on itunes and it's the same.
