From Deadline:
Quote:
Now for Lionsgate’s La La Land — it’s on a course to make $800K-$1M this weekend, potentially overtaking The Grand Budapest Hotel which opened to $811K at four locales for a per theater of $202K. This could change wildly into the tonight. I currently hear from non-Lionsgate box office sources that the Emma Stone-Ryan Gosling original musical made $64K in previews, with $125K logged so far to date. Word was the film sold $100K in advance tickets at the Hollywood Arclight before this weekend.

$200K+ PTA

After seeing most of the big movies... Just came Back from LLL, OK it's hands down not just the best movie of the year, it's just the best in the past 5 years. Wtf!!! Everything was perfect. I have no words to describe how I'm feeling right now. 11/10. Pure perfection.

Okay y'all convinced me to go to an early screening of LLL. It's only 4 days before the actual premier and I'll have to pay money for the train (I'll have to get to another city and public transportation is only free on weekdays) but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait.

The visuals, the music (which should snatch every award possible, honestly, some of the best film music ever), the actors... Emma and Ryan have magical chemistry and the former can definitely win a Best Actress Oscar. Everything about it was so perfect, I can't even. Probably gonna see this movie once again in the cinema, and I never usually do that.

Lionsgate should have gone wide this week. Capitalise on the hype before Star Wars and other bigger movies open for Christmas. Sing is getting amazing buzz and Passengers seems like a big crowd pleaser too.

Will La La Land snatch Moana's Best Original Song? Poor Moana losing to Elsa in the box office, and now to Emma on the Oscar

I'm a little more stable now so lemme just say....
When I walked into the theater for La La Land I was obviously super excited, after all, this is a movie I've been waiting for since the moment I finished watching Whiplash for the first time, I'm definitely a Little Chazeller™, but at the same time I was so fearful. How could it live up to my anticipation and excitement? If it wasn't as good as I expected I would be heartbroken and devastated, and it was such a probable thing to occur.
Boy I was wrong.
La La Land not only lived up to my expectations but surpassed them from the very first one shot scene.
It was perfect. Not only am I talking about the acting, the directing or any other technical aspect but the fact that you can FEEL the passion, the love that created this movie.
I want everyone to watch this movie the second they get the chance, I can't wait for everyone to be able to enjoy it and experience what I did earlier today.
Damien Chazelle is the future of cinema. I always knew, I always talk about it, but La La Land cements this not only as an opinion but as a fact.

These are special screenings fueled by high ticket prices/special events. The real record-holder is The Grand Budapest Hotel and it seems like La La Land is going to snatch

Same. I enjoyed it but I was expecting way more. Especially since it's received such great reviews. It is a great movie though. Casey did a great job.
I feel like I need to watch it again.

La La Land! Jesus, and I'm not even a fan of musicals, but this movie is so bittersweet, yet beautiful...

Yeah, I think the only scene that "got" me was the big one with Affleck and Michelle WIlliams. I was surprised by how little she was in the film.

I think this has been one of, if not my favorite years for film. Just so much good stuff. Or at least stuff that's right up my alley.
