They don't have a choice anymore. Either they adapt, or they make the same mistake Sony did at the start of the current gen and doom themselves to a poor start. And, considering how the Xbox only really does well in North America...they may not be able to catch up in the way Sony was able to thanks to their influence in Europe and Japan.
Microsoft has a TOUGH road to hoe.
