The original Last House On the Left is awful. I skipped through most of it because it was too uncomfortable to watch, idc if that was the point
Also I wouldn't recommend Housebound..
What I did like however was Hellraiser. I don't know why I hadn't watched them sooner since I love all those corny 80's movies. The coenobites were pretty terrifying!
Big Halloween Returns news:
The director has recently done an interview with some Halloween fan site and he stated that Halloween returns will be heavily based on the original. They're going to film with a panaglide like the original to get the Michael Myers pov effect, they're talking about doing a pumpkin title sequence which hasn't been done since Halloween 2, they're basing it heavily on suspense rather than big expensive actions sequences, and michaels mask is supposed to look very similar to the original John carpenter mask, and is suspected to be revealed in an early teaser trailer to achieve that "Han and chewie moment" like in this year's Star Wars teaser.
And there is no proof of this, so you'll just have to take it on faith, but there is a guy on one of the Halloween fan sites I follow who works in the industry and has read an early draft of the script. He says that it follows the same basic storyline as the original: Michael breaks out, targets one specific girl to fixate on and stalks her/her friends on Halloween night as the police and his doctor are trying to track him down. He also claims that out of all of the sequels scripts, this one has the closest feel to the script of the original.
Nice to know it looks like the director actually likes the original and is doing something sorta new. Kinda excited but less skeptical.
nope. i can't get on board with it. they will never ever recapture the weirdness and visual opulence of the original (plus, goblin's soundtrack). not in this day and age. let it rest! do a re-release or something if you have to.
i will be devastated if they start remaking mario bava's classics!
