Just listened to her commentary and here's what I heard basically condensed. Excuse messiness I typed it in a hurry as she was speaking.
All We All We Are - Worked on with Butch Walker. Just a love chant and a reason to yell. Thinks it's a perfect tour opener.
Blow me one last kiss - Started out more as just a "breakup song" it's more about how we hold on so tight to love out of fear of losing them and we sabotage ourselves. The first two lines she says sums her up as a person on a daily basis.
Try - She laughs how she did not write it but everyone loves it and wishes she wrote it, but it's so great and it spoke to her. Says it's a good sexy song and gives her good tension for a live concert.
Just Give Me a Reason - It started as just a songwriting session which lead to a song. Loves how it's like a conversation and the tells the story well.
True Love - Talks about Carey and her true love tattoo. It's her truth about about love.
How come you're not here - One of her favorites. Loves the rock n roll feel. She sees it as a cartoon and how she's chasing after him . Second verse of the song is her favorite she's written of all time.
**** like you - It's taking the power back to the females. How men can sleep with 10 women and they're players and women can sleep with 5 men and they're *****. How female pay for choices more than men and **** like you is all feminism.
Truth about love - Done with Billy Mann who she loves, he also did crystal ball, dear mr president, and stupid girls. It was an experiment and this song happen to push her to make the album. She loves all the questions in the song and her favorite line is sandwiches without the crush and it was her favorite song on the entire album.
Beam Me Up - It's about a loss- a loss of a child and it's very very very very personal and close to her heart. That's all. (thinking she maybe lost a child)
Walk of shame - talks about how Carey would be at his shop in Vegas and would call her and talk about the people he would see doing the walk of shame the next morning and how it would be a good video and it's just all out a funny song and fun.
Here comes the weekend - Friendship swap between her and eminem. Eminem found the song and they did it because she was on his album. It was going to be the first single, but she then wrote Blow Me One Last Kiss.
Where did the beat go - Another Billy Mann song. About affairs. Easy to fantasize when not being loved and how women cheat too, just don't get caught as much as men. Talks about relationships and the psychology behind it. A little more feminism.
Great Escape - Wrote it with Dan Wilson from Semisonic who also sang Closing Time back in the 90s. Many people think it's about suicide but for her she thinks the entire world is too numbed down by pills, drugs, etc. How some relationships are not about feeling anymore and people just want to hide behind stuff rather than facing them head on. "We say how are you but won't stay around for the answer."
