He has described it as a dark comedy, so if you walk into it with that mindset, I'd say you'd probably enjoy it more. It has some very unsettling moments and will keep you guessing though, especially if you are familiar with the expectations he has set in his other films. There is a ton of humor throughout, which I think is its strength. He seems to really be poking fun at his past failures and found footage tropes, but still delivering a great, creative little horror story, which it really is at the end of the day no matter how they market it.
