The simple fact is that the album is not as groundbreaking or unique or influential as everyone makes out. If she hadn't had a flop era last time people wouldn't be overrating it as much. It's because she came from doing fairly poorly to doing very well that people are surprised. If she'd been consistent it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. The sales and the - singles-sales - aren't actually that amazing. She's done well, I'm not denying that but it's a very overrated album.
