If she didn't "want to appeal to the masses" why are the BeyHive always focused on how her album was so successful and all the GP loved it and it did so well universally? Clearly she did want to appeal to the masses and clearly the BeyHive take pride in her album appealing to various demographics. However, there are more successful albums recently no matter what way you want to split it. Regardless of genre. If it sells more, it's clearly more successful.
