"When You Were Young" peaked at #14 on the Hot 100 and "Human" has been lingering in the 60's-70's. I just haven't been hearing "Human" anywhere but I remember WYWY dominating airwaves for a long time back in 2006 so I guess that's my standard of comparison.

Yeah, fair enough. Although I think "Human" peaked just below the top 30 on the Hot 100? In it's debut digital sales week.

Chinese Democracy will not outsell Kanye, period.
Kanye will be #1 - it's not even a matter that should be debated.

One of the most anticipated albums of the last twenty years vs. an album that isn't even anticipated that much. I'll make a poll right now.

2. When was the last time a Soundtrack debuted at #1?

Seriously? How about the Hannah Montana/High School Musical soundtracks. Also, Mama Mia! did extremely well. Plus, Twilight has Paramore to add to it. A NEW Paramore track at that, and the book is extremely popular.

I do.
She is an amazing artist. She's the Lil Wayne of country! Or better yet, the Britney Spears of country! Her only contenders are Carrie and Shania if she ever decides to release that new album! Country is a HUGE album seller in the US. This makes up for the single sales of country music.

You know what? I actually agree with you.
For one, it's selling exclusively at one place. Yeah, I know, AC/DC and The Eagles had great sales this way, but Best Buy is not Wal-Mart.
I don't know, color me pessimistic, but I don't see the supply meeting the demand here.

It's also selling on iTunes, so that opens up the market a bit.
The reason I think Kanye will be at a disadvantage is that "Love Lockdown" didn't get nearly the same reception that "Gold Digger" got (which helped LR open with massive sales) and there's no hip-hop battle gimmick between him and another rapper going on to give this album a boost like their was with Graduation. Kanye will still have a big debut, just not as much as his previous 2 albums. But I honestly have no idea how Chinese Democracy will do.

Well, Johnald informed me about iTunes, and I can understand that.
On the other hand, Kanye didn't just do well because Graduation was fixed with a gimmick. Kanye is a household name, and has been since "Gold Digger" and LR. Yeah, the gimmick may have helped a *bit*, but, surely, people bought the album for Kanye alone, right?
Either way, it's going to be one hell of a ride Thanksgiving week. And don't discount Black Friday, either. The sales might be even higher than any of us are estimating because of that alone.

True. But if it weren't for that 50 Cent thing I don't think LR would've debuted with anything higher than 600k.
But in defense of your argument, I just remembered that CD is being released off cycle (on Sunday the 23rd) so its first two days of sales will not count toward its first full chart week so Kanye might have a leg up after all.

Actually, the first two days of sales are going to count, that's the point of releasing it on the 23rd.
That would also mean Kanye's Monday sales wouldn't count as well as The Killers and Ludacris.

Why does that count though? That just seems kind of unfair to the competition. I remember Eminem and Korn releasing their albums off-cycle in previous years and their sales weren't combined into one week. I figured you'd know, but didn't Korn release an album in like...2004 that debuted at #18 because its first week was truncated and then shot up to like #2 the next week?

I don't know. Korn's album (Take a Look in the Mirror) was released on a Friday and there was a shortage of shipments, so it only debuted at #21. Although it shot up to #9 in its first full week and had sold nearly 300,000 copies by then. Eminem wasn't hurt by releasing his album on a Friday. I just remember reading that Chinese Democracy's sales would count all the way until December 1st.

Oh, so that changes things slightly.
But anyway, "Love Lockdown" is a single similar to "Diamonds" or "Cant Tell Me Nothing" - the warm-up or lead up to the mega single to come, "Gold Digger", "Stronger", and now it'll be for "Heartless".
GnR doesn't have the same hype to me as say, AC/DC did. Nor do they Wal-Mart in their corner despite iTunes sales. And really? Who buys a digital copy of GNR over the physical copy? This isn't some trendy, new indie act that are riding the wave of the times.
If it were a normal week, I'd say GNR - 600k, Kanye - 900k.

I would love it if Kanye could outsell Guns N Roses!! Doubt it but.
"College Dropout" is his only album not to debut at #1.

Like 400k
"Britney" sold like 700k the first week & ITZ sold like 600k ... and thats when she used to promote ALOT & when sales were better & when she was at the top of her game. I would really suprised she came close to ITZ with sales the way they are & the fact that she isnt really promoting that much/at all
