Ah, I see. That makes sense I suppose since they just assume they are a safety school.
Do you think you'll get in for regular decision?
U of Mich is really bad though with admissions, my classmates (who have LOW and I mean LOWWWW ACT scores) applied EA and got in even though they have no extracurriculars and terrible GPAs.

Mizzou. I stayed the summer to get in-state tuition so I'm paying like $4k a semester, and it's helluva party school too. It's also considered the #1 journalism school in the country.

It's because they're a state school. IS kids will always have a higher priority. And yeah, they just assume they won't yield any of top students they admit because they have chances of getting in better schools. The insecurity
I'm sure I'll be fine for regular admission, but still it sucks to be toyed with by a school a barely even want to go to.

The damn audacity of a college deferring a student who went through the trouble of applying and spending money applying and sending scores.
I got deferred for Harvard, but that was just luck.
I'm SO not getting in.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it! I'd love to have another ATRLer to talk to in college. It would be awesome knowing someone before even stepping foot on campus!
I'm actually working on my Vanderbilt essay the longest since I want to make sure I say everything in the 150-400 words so they accept me. Do you think writing about my dual enrollment and making my own education rather than letting high school fly by without a challenge is a good topic?

yeah i've read about a lot of top schools that aren't Ivies deferring and waitlisting top applicants to increase their matriculation rates. They fear that those they accept will also be accepted to an Ivy League school and be left in the cold when they eventually opt to attend the Ivy League school.
It's really messed up tbh

That sounds like a good topic especially if you can write well and with passion about it!

Yeah, it is. But I'm honestly over it.
Anyway: Berkekey, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford, Cornell, Upenn, Harvard, Dartmouth, Georgia tech, Emory, Rice, NYU, Columbia
And a few others I forgot about. I have about 20 apps in total which is ridiculous

Alright, thanks so much! I'm mainly just trying to focus on using advanced vocab instead of sounding robotic and like an illiterate man. We'll have to PM each other again and keep talking if I do get in though!

Ugh, I feel like it's just a reason to reject me at this point. Typical "robot"

No, not really. High scores like those are necessary for them to even consider your application. If you look at the average scores for those admitted they are exceedingly high.
Only if you have poor extracurriculars and essays should that be something you should worry about

Mm yeah, I guess. But for Berkeley, I have no idea wtf is up. That school last year rejected anything over a 2200.

This thread is bringing back all the stress I felt as a junior and senior in high school. All those visits to collegeconfidential, worrying about my test scores, fearing my teachers would write ****** recs, thinking my grades were too low, worried I wouldn't get into any 100% need met schools, applying for selective scholarships, watching my peers get into amazing schools, omg omg omg. I was a mess.
I just want to let you all know, it will be ok in the end. Even if you end up somewhere you would have never originally imagined. It will be alright. I ended up at a top ranked private liberal arts college, something I would have never expected, especially as a city kid.
