Okay. I was like... wow, I thought you were in texas, what the heck?
Anyway, basically it is just a problem of being judged before someone gets to know you? I am sure there has to be a few people at your campus who you could get along with. Not to mention, those people are probably not worth it anyway. I know that is a cliché but still, if you do not do that, why try to mingle with those who do until you are sure that you have something more meaningful in common? I know friends have disagreements but if they are already disagreeing even before you are friends, well that just stinks.
I currently go to a private catholic university but it has been nice to find a few people who either were not religious/thinkprivateisthewaytogo or were open to those who were not that way. However, I think it is just harder finding your crowd if the majority of the people are not like you. Good luck with that.
Hopefully you find some reason to enjoy life again, since with the right crowd/reasons, it can feel almost surreal. Sometimes, chocolate ice cream does the trick for me... that or some silly song like (currently) Skye Sweetnam - Cartoon
