Jude turned her away saying Lana had already made up her mind over what Briarcliff was like, and Lana said to Johnny "you have no idea what I'm capable of"...which considering he knew all the stuff she'd done/been through, implies there was more (i.e. it was all a lie).

No she just made some things up it still happened.
The ending was supposed to show role changes imo.
The way they talked about anmbition and how that led to Lana's torture but also fame.
And more importantly when Jude said "look evil in the face" we see a close up of her face which led us to believe she would be the evil character and Lana the victim.Pretty black and white.
But over the course of the show it changed.
Jude got a lot of sympathy and Lana was pretty much hated in the last two episodes.
