Britney's career didn't start in 2005 either, it started in 1999 so she actually had the opportunity to become an "album-seller" whereas Rihanna didn't. Granted, if Rihanna had come out the same time as Britney, I still think she'd only sell a third of what Britney's albums did, but still, you're pretty much comparing oranges and apples. The era of "album-sellers" was basically dead by 2006.
