Again, Rihanna doesn't have success with her singles because of the sound of her voice. Nobody's buying her music to hear THAT. She has success because the majority of her career has been focused towards catering to trends.

Yes they are successful because of her voice
Her tone is radio candy, anyone that has it is pretty much guaranteed at least one smash (Zara, Daya, etc)
Although Sia kinda had that tone first I guess but she didn't make pop until 2011
