Why would they buy it on the day of the release, when they can download it for free by then as well?

Real fans buy their fave's music whereas casual fans/listeners won't care as much. A real fan will buy the album on the day of release whereas many casual fans may find a link online, download the album and listen to it that way and won't bother to actually purchase the album. Thanks to legal streaming, casual fans can listen to the album for "free" while still contributing to the "sales" of the album

I mean, I've pre-ordered this 4 times (iTunes, Target, Japan and from Gwen's webstore). And I still would listen to this early if it leaked cause I LOVE Gwen and have been waiting a decade. I would never cancel my orders cause I want them still! I want to hang that vinyl on my wall, have CD quality of the tracks, etc. I hate it when people play "holier-than-thou" about leaks. Times are a changin'. If people want to, they will buy it. If they don't want to, they will download it. Many will do both.

I see your point For me, Push and Shove felt slighted and ignored though and they stopped promoting it, so while we did get the music, it wasn't the era that was hoped for Granted, Gwen won't go back to eras as big as her previous solo efforts, there has been a lot more excitement and lead-up this time

I wasn't talking about you-I had originally quoted, you actually because I agreed with your post. It's my frustration that people get mad when people are so excited that they want something to leak - it just seems that it happens to every artist these days and it's the new norm and people want to somehow stop it. I'm saying that if it leaked, I would be totally guilty of listening to it. And I wouldn't want to be judged for it.
